This Day in History: 2009-08-30

Peter Robinson led Toodyay Historical Society members on an excursion to inspect what was left of Moondyne Joe’s Cage in the Moondyne Nature Reserve, and Forrest’s Cairn in the Avon Valley National Park. The Cage and Cairn are part of the Avon Valley Survey Heritage Trails based on the explorer-surveyor John Forrest’s work in the area during 1877-1878. The trails, which link the various trig points and cairns, were opened in January 1996.
