This Day in History: 2008-05-04

The Governor Dr Ken Michael, AC, opened the 24th Moondyne Festival in Toodyay. Dr Richard Walkey opened the inaugural Moondyne Art Prize and Exhibition, held by Arts Toodyay, in the late Harry Newton’s cottage on Stirling Terrace, next to the Bank. The first prize was won by Kaye Devlin, with her portrait of Moondye Joe. Nic Cording was the new Moondyne Joe. Lesley Hug was the Town Crier.
