This Day in History: 2008-05-02

2008 May 2-4: The inaugural Moondyne Art Exhibition, held by Arts Toodyay, was opened by Dr. Richard Walkey, in the late Harry Newton’s cottage on Stirling Terrace, Toodyay. The Hon. Brian Ellis, MLC, Member for the Agricultural Region, also attended. First Prize winner was Kaye Devlin, with her portrait of Moondyne Joe. The Toodyay Historical Society awarded Margot Watkins its Toodyay Historical Society Award for Best Historical Content for her small sculpture entitled ‘Pioneer Baking Day’. President of Arts Toodyay was John Mitchison.
