The new Prospector rail cars commenced operating on the Transwa rural passenger train service between Kalgoorlie and East Perth, via Toodyay. The new rail cars were capable of 200 km/h, but track conditions restricted the top speed to 160 km/h. Nonetheless the rail cars reduced journey times from 8 hours to 6 hours 45 minutes.
