This Day in History: 2000-06-29

The Toodyay Shire Council, at its budget meeting, decided to go ahead with the building of a heated indoor Aquatic Centre. Building was planned to commence on 1 January 2001, and completed in June 2002. Cr. Greg Downie led the Sports & Recreation Advisory Committee who worked on this project. The cost was projected to be approximately $2 million, with the Shire of Toodyay having approximately $550,000 in reserved funds. Another $700,000 was available from the Community Sport and Recreation Reserve Fund.
