This Day in History: 1999-11-20

The centenary of the Toodyay Lodge (No. 37) was held in Toodyay. This Masonic Lodge of Freemasons was consecrated and dedicated in Newcastle as No. 2803 (English Constitution) on 20 November 1899. When the Grand Lodge of Western Australia was formed a few months later, the Toodyay Lodge number changed to No. 37. One hundred years later, at the Toodyay Showgrounds pavilion, the consecration ceremony was re-enacted, attended by nearly 2000 Freemasons. After the ceremony, Toodyay Lodge’s Worshipful Master J.C. ‘Mac’ Wroth OAM, JP, welcomed the gathering at a dinner at the Memorial Hall.
