This Day in History: 1998-12-17

The inaugural Toodyay Street Party was held on a Thursday evening, to celebrate a successful year in town. Sponsored by the Toodyay Chamber of Commerce & Industry and RadioWest 6AM, shops stayed open, and the Shop Window Decoration Competition was won by Wendouree Tea Rooms, with a display of Paula Greenways’s Earth Sculptures pottery. Father Christmas arrived on a Harley Davidson motorcycle and the Three Wise Men on camels from the Blue Gum Camel Farm. The Chamber and the Shire of Toodyay sponsored a Christmas Lights Competition.
