This Day in History: 1998-11-16
1998 November 16 circa: At a Special General Meeting of members of the Toodyay Tourist Centre Inc., it was resolved to voluntarily wind up the operations of the Toodyay Tourist Centre. The resolution was carried unanimously by the 20 members present. It was also moved that all the assets were to be transferred to the Shire. The Centre had run for 23 years. Some 90,000 people had visited the Shire each year, spending $800,000. Over 26 new businesses have commenced as a result of tourism.
