This Day in History: 1995-06-24

The Toodyay Naturalists’ Club commenced the first of three annual Avon River Waterbird Surveys in the winters of 1995-1997, to study effects of the Avon Descent boat race on riverine wildlife. Co-ordinated by Jim Masters, six surveys were conducted in the first year, over the period 24 June to 2 September. Ride base was the Toodyay Racecourse.
