This Day in History: 1995-05-07
Moondyne Joe (alias Tony Maddox) was escorted by the ‘Colonial Police’ from Perth to Toodyay on a Hotham Valley Tourist Railway steam train for the town’s 11th Moondyne Festival and Colonial Fair. Toodyay Kindergym again had the winning float in the parade. It also contributed a ‘Celebrity Obstacle Race’, held on the Toodyay Volunteer Fire Brigade’s Eric T. Patten Running Track (later called Charcoal Lane), and won by Brad Gale. A decorated bicycle competition was a new event that year.
