This Day in History: 1995-05-02

A Hotham Valley Tourist Railway steam train brought Moondye Joe (alias Tony Maddox) to the 9th Moondyne Festival in Toodyay, accompanied by the ‘Colonial Police’.  A Band of Convicts from Fremantle Prison performed. The Toodyay District High School Year 1 class created a parade float called ‘Yaydoot’, where everything was back to front. Teacher Nick Cording was a member of Moondyne Joe’s Gang. The Toodyay Society’s Craft in Action event, held on the same day in the Toodyay Memorial Hall, featured 21 crafts.
