This Day in History: 1994-12-10

The inaugural meeting of the Toodyay Friends of the River was held in Duidgee Park, Toodyay, on the Avon River. The aim of the group was to monitor and improve the health of the Avon River and its tributaries in the Shire of Toodyay. The formation of this ‘friends’ group was the idea of Viv Read, the Regional Manager of the Waterways Commission, and Wayne Clarke, then a member of the Avon River Management Authority (ARMA).
