This Day in History: 1994-11-11

The Freemasons’ Angling Club was inaugurated by John and Stella Pearce, mine hosts of the Freemasons’ Hotel, Toodyay, for ‘light relief’ purposes with fundraising proceeds going to the Avon Hospice in Northam. This first fishing expedition was to the ‘Bolgart Bridge’ (actually the Avon River Bridge, and later renamed the Newcastle Bridge), in Toodyay, over the Avon River.
