1994 March 4-7: The Toodyay Lions Club hosted the Lions 28th District Convention at the Toodyay Racecourse. On 5 March, the Governor-General of Australia, Major-General Michael Jeffery and his wife Mrs. Marlena Jeffery attended the parade, riding in a horse-drawn landau, with a band and marchers, along Stirling Terrace. Some conventioners stayed in sleeper cars in a Hotham Valley Tourist Railway train at the West Toodyay Marshalling Yards.
