This Day in History: 1993-05-12

A Special Meeting of the Toodyay Shire Conncil was held at which submissions were discussed on the proposed Waste Disposal Site at Lot 1, Red Gully Road, Nunyle. Over 40 people attended. The Council had consulted many experts with the result was that this site was the best available in the Shire. Council passed a motion confirming its support for the rezoning of the proposed site, with two Councillors voting against the motion. Council had been negotiating with the Town of Northam with a view to rubbish from Toodyay being disposed of at the Northam tip, but the cost was deemed too high at that time.
