Robert Broderick commenced a contract with the Shire of Toodyay for the supervision of the Toodyay Waste Disposal Site. At a price of $440 per week, this contract included keeping Marshalling Yard Road (later Railway Road) from Duidgee Park to the tip site litter free, supplying four eight metre bins to the Shire free of charge for clean-ups, development of an efficient recycling system, purchase of machinery needed to do the job efficiently and maintenance watering of trees and gardens on the site.
