A LEAP (Landcare and Environment Action Programme) commenced in Toodyay. Sixteen young people (between the ages of 15 and 26) from Toodyay were chosen to be part of the Toodyay Landcare and Environment Action Programme, which provided formal and informal training for participants studying at TAFE. Projects covered the areas of cultural heritage, conservation, landcare and the environment.Shire Gardener Cliff Napper was the co-ordinator and Dianne Beal the Guidance Officer. The programme was a joint initiative of the Commonwealth and State Governments through LEAP and the Dept. of Employment, Vocational Education and Training, in conjunction with the Shire of Toodyay.
