This Day in History: 1992-12-13
The Toodyay Telephone Exchange, in Duke Street, was scheduled to cut-over to new equipment, with one of the differences being that the new exchange responded to tone dialling. A temporary swap-office was set-up in the Toodyay Memorial Hall Foyer, to allow residents with old rotary dial phones to swap them for a new Touchphone, at a much reduced price. At least seventy residents took up this offer.
