This Day in History: 1992-02-23

The inaugural Toodyay Triathlon was held, consisting of a 700m swim (14 laps of the Northam Swimming Pool), a 26km cycle from Northam to the Information Bay at the junction of the Northam-Toodyay and  Toodyay Roads and a 6km run to the Toodyay Tavern and back to finish at the Toodyay Racecourse. Presented by the Toodyay Triathlon Association and the Toodyay Yacht Club, with various local sponsors such as the Victoria Hotel. Greg Taylor won the Men’s Open and Sharon Butler won the Ladies Open.
