This Day in History: 1991-04-04

The Toodyay local government elections were not held on the advertised date of 4 May, because only the retiring Shire Councillors in the three wards had nominated by 4 April. They were therefore elected unopposed, one each in the East, West and North Wards: John J. Smart (East), Gregory R. Nicol (West) and Geoffrey L. Ludemann (North). Robert (Bob) Somers was later elected Shire President. Robert J. Millar was the Shire Clerk (since August 1986).
