This Day in History: 1990-04-01

The 6th Moondyne Festival was a great success. The Western Australia Police Pipe Band supplied the music and the Hotham Valley Tourist Railway returned Moondyne Joe from Perth. Toodyay Brownies entered the winning parade float, the ‘Avon Attack’ boat of wicked looking pirates. The winning teams of the wheelbarrow race were: men: Peter Jankauskas, Michael Jaworski, Shannon Van Beek; women: Kylie Jankauskas, Naomi Simkins, Renee Edwards.  Other events included a moustache competition, maypole dancing, colonial games, children’s art competition and Reg Bolton’s Suitcase Circus.
