This Day in History: 1989-11-10

Shire Councillor Jan Ferguson attended a one day seminar on ‘Libraries and Local Government’, attended by 170 local government Councillors and library staff at the Langley Plaza Hotel, Perth. There were 220 public libraries in the State, and more than 1/3 of the population used a public library. Toodyay Librarian, David Pitcher, was one of the speakers, his topic being children’s services. Entitled ‘Service with a Smile’, his amusing address, which contained anecdotes of events at Toodyay Library over the past eight years, was well received by the audience, many of whom expressed the desire to visit Toodyay and its library.
