This Day in History: 1989-07-22

A new fire-fighting truck (4-wheel drive) was handed over from the Bush Fires Board to the Shire of Toodyay, to replace the Studebaker truck. The vehicle had been purchased under the Bush Fires Board Fire Unit Subsidy Scheme, with the Shire paying half the cost of $50,000. A Fire Protection Levy, which is rated against all landowners in rural areas of the Shire, paid for the truck and other items.
