This Day in History: 1989-01-02
Stock was burnt in a bushfire that started at 11.30am on Bindoon-Dewars Pool Road, Toodyay. The fire, caused by the use of an angle grinder, was brought under control later in the day by local firefighters and CALM. There was another bushfire on same day in Royd Nook, caused by the use of farm machinery. An historical cottage was destroyed. The fire was considered one of the worst in the district for many years, with 1,050 hectares burnt.
