This Day in History: 1988-12-25

A bushfire started at 11.30am on Christmas Day near the Hockey Field in the Toodyay Showgrounds, and ran along the river foreshore to the Bolgart railway line, jumped the Avon River, the West Toodyay railway yards and Julimar Road and went uphill. Locals brought it under control around 3.30pm. No injuries or loss of life occurred. The cause was not established.
