This Day in History: 1988-11-24

John Hallett, Senior Constable, and staff of the Toodyay Police Station, held a public meeting in the Sports Pavilion at the Toodyay Showgrounds, attended by 90 people, to discuss the setting up of a Toodyay Rural Watch scheme in the Toodyay Police District, to gather information about people, vehicles and events that are deemed suspicious. The Toodyay Rural Watch Committee first met on 30 November, during which Rob Lang was elected Chairman and Kaye Rewell the Secretary. Area representatives were later designated.
