This Day in History: 1988-04-24

The centenary of the 1888 opening of the railway from Clackline to Newcastle was celebrated with the ‘Bicentennial Railway Trek’ along the old railway reserve from Clackline to Toodyay. Lunch was enjoyed at the Coorinja Winery, on Toodyay Road, where Joseph C. (Mac) Wroth, the Chairman of the Toodyay Bicentennial Committee, dedicated a plaque commemorating the centenary.
