This Day in History: 1986-10-11

A Grand Parade for the Toodyay 150th Celebrations was a special feature of the 133rd (actually the 128th) Toodyay Agricultural Show held in the Toodyay Showgrounds. Toodyay Agricultural Society Committee member Doug Wilkerson organised horse-drawn vehicles, various marching groups and the Southern Districts Band. TV personality Anne Conti opened the Show. A Concourse d’Elegance for the horse-drawn vehicles and a heavy horse breed class were included as special nostalgic additions this year. The Show Schedule of Prizes featured historical photographs of agricultural activities, and local farmer and historian Wally Chitty organized a display of historic farm implements.  Rod Fewster was the TAS President, while the Toodyay Tourist Centre still performed the paid duties of Secretary/Treasurer, mainly performed by Judith Walton. Miss Show Girl was Kirsten Somers.
