This Day in History: 1986-09-26
1986 September 26-29: The 16th WA Folk Festival was held in Toodyay, with over 3,000 visitors expected. Camping was available at the Toodyay Caravan Park – Avonbanks, with overflow accommodated in the Toodyay Showgrounds, under the supervision of the Army Reserve. An extra major venue was added in the area behind the Freemasons’ Hotel, which brought the total to eight venues. The Children’s Activities Programme in the Anglican Hall was a popular new attraction. A 24-hour police presence assisted in creating a much improved Festival.
