1985 August 24-25: The WA Minister for Tourism, Racing and Gaming, the Hon. Des Dans MLC, officially opened the 2nd Moondyne Festival held in Toodyay. Sponsored by GWN Television (Golden West Network), Peter Chiffings was the Festival Co-ordinator. The Wowser James Wheelbarrow Race, the Moondyne Fun Run/Walk and the Gala Float Parade were enjoyed in spite of the wet and windy conditions. The Toodyay Agricultural Society’s Miss Show Girl Debbie Phillips, of Culham, rode a fleece-covered float with sheep and goats, winning the $20.00 prize for the Fleeciest Float.
