This Day in History: 1985-07-27
1985 July 27-28: Competitors in the 13th Avon Descent whitewater boat and paddle race, from Northam to Bayswater, had to cope again with very low water levels in the Avon River. The Toodyay Tourist Centre took part in the float parade and Toodyay ‘convicts’ promoted the Moondyne Festival at the Avon Descent Festival on the Friday night prior to the race. The Toodyay Shire Council provided firewood and a water tanker at the overnight campsite at Cobbler Pool.
