This Day in History: 1984-05-14

1984 May: In the Toodyay local government elections, there were three vacancies to be filled, one each in the East, North and Central Wards, due to retiring Shire Councillors. Retiring Councillors Malcolm J. Butterly (North) and Joseph C. (Mac) Wroth (Central) were re-elected. Robert (Bob) Somers was newly elected unopposed for the East Ward, after the resignation of Toodyay’s first female Councillor Lesley I. Phillips. Geoffrey L. Ludemann was later elected Shire President. Kevan C. Williams was the Shire Clerk (since October 1983).
