This Day in History: 1983-10-15

The 130th (actually 125th) Toodyay Agricultural Show attracted a record attendance at the Toodyay Showgrounds.  Hand Spinning had been given a Section of its own. The Hotham Valley Tourist Railway train brought 20 carriages carrying over 1,000 people to the Show, including 36 disabled visitors. The parades included decorated bicycles and dolls. Jean Bushell, who had been exhibiting for 40 years, scored most points in the Horticulture Section for the third year running.  The President of the Toodyay Agricultural Society was still Brian Wood and the Toodyay Tourist Centre (ie Pam Masters) was still the paid Secretary/Treasurer.
