This Day in History: 1983-07-16
A pilgrimage was undertaken from Perth of the churches in the Avon Valley, in remembrance of the life and work of Rev. Charles Harper, the first person from W.A. to be ordained an Anglican priest. He was ordained in Adelaide, serving the Toodyay district from 1849 to 1872. The Anglican Catholic Renewal Group of the Perth Anglican Diocese planned the visit, which included St. Philip’s at Culham, St. Stephen’s at Toodyay (lunch) and St. Saviour’s at Katrine. The churches were filled to overflowing.
