This Day in History: 1981-06-01
As part of WA Week, the Toodyay Society held its inaugural Craft in Action event in the Toodyay Memorial Hall on WA’s Foundation Day, attracting 300 people and raising $250. The old Police Stables in Clinton Street was the venue for Vern Ferguson’s horse-shoeing display and an exhibition of colonial fire-arms by the Confederate Historical Society. The former St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (1863) was open for viewing. The Toodyay Society’s Craft in Action event was held annually, until at least 1993.
