This Day in History: 1979-03-28

The Toodyay Shire Council held a reception in the banner-decorated Memorial Hall for residents who have lived in the Shire for 50 years or more.  Over 150 people enjoyed afternoon tea and the entertainment provided by the Western Singers.  The Toodyay Uniting Church and the Autumn Club won the WAY ’79 Banner competition. Mr. James (Jim) Hassell drew the winners of two $50 prizes donated by his company: they were Kath Kingston and Sydney ‘Spec’ Sinclair.
