This Day in History: 1979-01-05

A sundowner party was held at Connor’s Mill, Toodyay, to farewell Rev. Hugh McGuiness, who had been President of the Toodyay Tourist Centre Committee for the previous 18 months.Rev. McGuiness had been transferred to a new Perth parish (Kensington). He was presented with a specially commissioned pen and watercolour drawing of St. Stephen’s Church, his parish church. The new President was Brian Harris. Many of the inaugural members of the first Committee were present.
