This Day in History: 1978-05-15

The Toodyay Shire Council adopted the names of two parks: Newcastle Park (Stirling Terrace), suggested by Doreen Watson and Anita Thurman; and Duidgee Park near the Avon River (now Newcastle) Bridge, suggested by Mac Ferguson.
