1977 October 8-10: The WA Folk Federation held its annual Folk Festival in Toodyay for the first time. Almost 1,000 visitors camped at the rear of the Freemasons’ Hotel and on the Old Bowling Green site in Stirling Park, near the Avon River Bridge (now the Newcastle Bridge). Visitors also stayed at the Toodyay Youth Hostel and the Avondown Christian Centre. The Toodyay Agricultural Show was held the same weekend.
