This Day in History: 1975-07-02
1975 July: A project to build two new bowling greens in a new location in Stirling Terrace had commenced with the land being filled and levelled. The Toodyay Club and Toodyay Bowling Club had amalgamated and had applied to the Toodyay Shire Council to have the use of vacant railway land. A Regional Economic Development Scheme (R.E.D.S.) grant of $7,000 was allocated to the Toodyay Shire Council to employ a carpenter and four workmen to erect timber frames and install concrete retainers for the bowling green ditches. The Toodyay Bowling Club intended to seed the lawns by the end of August.
