This Day in History: 1971-10-06

1971 October: The Toodyay Civil Defence and Emergency Service had formed a rescue team to add to its first aid and ambulance service teams. The Toodyay Branch of the Country Women’s Association of Western Australia was in charge of welfare and the Toodyay RSL had agreed to act as post wardens. Nearly all organizations had been allotted a role in an emergency. The Toodyay Shire Council had given the room next to the Toodyay Public Library for civil defence use, which was set up as headquarters.
