This Day in History: 1966-02-13

Rail traffic commenced using the Standard Gauge Railway single dual-gauge line on the Avon River Valley route. At various vantage points along the line on Sunday evening, people watched the first passenger train, the Kalgoorlie Express, pass through on the new line. Joe Bamford, a former Toodyay resident, was the driver of the first goods train that also passed through that night.
