This Day in History: 1962-01-04

At the opening ceremony of Bolgart’s town water supply, G.P. Wild, Minister of Works and Water Supplies, unveiled a drinking fountain at the Bolgart Memorial Hall. The Minister for Local Government, Les Logan, was also present.  “It was a day of searing heat and the fountain was well used.” At the official reception at the Bolgart Hotel, the efforts of Percy V. Edmonds were acknowledged. The source of the water used to reticulate the town was on Ian Martin’s property on the hill opposite the town.
