This Day in History: 1956-11-05

At a meeting of the Avon Valley Developmental Council, the Chairman (Mr. Bond) stated that the River Dredging Scheme (ie the Avon River Training Scheme, designed to reduce flooding) had been abandoned this year due to lack of government finance. The Council requested the Chairman to ask the State Government if this decision could be reconsidered.
