This Day in History: 1956-03-10

At the request of the Toodyay Road Board, John Alistair Hepburn, the Town Planning Commissioner, visited Toodyay to discuss various future developments. On the idea of a by-pass in Toodyay for heavy trucks, he said it would be inadvisable because of the cost. As regards zoning land into industrial and residential areas, he thought the need was unlikely to arise. When asked about the use of derelict areas in the town site, he suggested making enquiries in Perth of the relevant government departments.
