This Day in History: 1956-02-07
The first stage of the reconstruction of Stirling Terrace commenced with the Public Works Dept. installation of a new 7 in. water main from the Toodyay Fire Station to Clinton Street. A week later, on 15 Feb., Humes Limited of Perth commenced the installation of a sullage water drain from the Fire Station to the Avon River. All the trees in Stirling Terrace had to be removed. New trees were later planted later in the footpaths.
