This Day in History: 1956-01-24
In stifling heat, the Mobile X-Ray Unit of the Tuberculosis Control Branch of the Dept. of Health undertook its Compulsory Mass Chest X-Ray Survey of the Toodyay Road District in the Toodyay Town Hall. The Toodyay Branch of the Country Women’s Association of Western Australia supplied the refreshments and acted as receptionists. Under the direction of Messrs. Park and Fleming of Perth, 716 people (over the age of 16 years) had been screened, but many people were still away on holidays.
