This Day in History: 1954-09-13

The Toodyay Road Board decided to become a participating body under the Library Board Act, which meant the Toodyay Library would be a ‘Free Lending Library’. The Road Board also decided to form a children’s library. Toodyay was put on the waiting list for the new library which would be associated with and supported by the Library Board of Western Australia. The existing library’s 2,800 books would be exchanged for 2,000 fresh books that would be regularly exchanged.
