This Day in History: 1954-07-08
A deputation from Toodyay met with the Minister for Health (Mr. Emil Nulsen) to request the reopening of the Toodyay Hospital. The deputation was introduced by Lindsay Thorn, MLA. Edward Davy, the Chairman of the Toodyay Road Board, said that the hospital had been closed early (1940) in World War 2 and the equipment removed. Excluding age pensioners, Dr. Patrick. J. O’Reilly said he attended to about 200 medical, accident and maternity cases a month.
