This Day in History: 1954-07-06

A meeting of farmers was held to discuss the setting up of an effective fire-fighting organization in Toodyay. Keable D. Lee was appointed Chairman and Alfred John Pedder, Secretary. The Chief Officer and 9 bush fire control officers were elected to form small brigades of 3-4 men, each with a Captain.
